ITTY DID IT AGAIN AND PASSED THE 2009 MASTER NATIONALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. WOW!! This means along with her pass at the '08 Master National she now has two MN passes, thus earning a Master National Hunter (MNH) title!!! Cindi and I are ECSTATIC!!!!!

This year the event was held at Manheim, Texas, just about an hour drive from our house. Both Cindi and I took the week off from work so we could be at the event. It started October 23rd and closed November 1st. For more information about the 2009 Master Nationals click here. We also added a page to our website to give you latest updates on Kitty's progress as she ran the '09 MN Event; CLICK HERE to see my descriptions of each of the four tests she ran during the course of the week and pictures we took during each of her runs.

Cindi and I are very proud of Kitty and very grateful to Pat McHale of Ridgewood Kennels for getting Kitty her 2nd Master National pass! Pat is already making plans to take Kitty to the 2010 Master Nationals in California.

Kitty travelled to South Dakota with me and Mason and Tater the week before Thanksgiving '08 to hunt wild pheasants. I still plan to post lots of good photos.

We are planning to breed Kitty during her next heat cycle in 2010. If she comes in season during her normal Jan/Feb routine we will probably breed her. Check back with us for updates.

ason earned his first Master Hunter pass in the spring of '06 under Pat, his trainer. I ran him in Master tests in the fall of '06 mainly for the experience. Due to my inexperience and his unbridled nature we didn't get any more passes, but I sure learned a lot and have a lot more confidence in handling him.

Our 2007 Hunt Test season started out well with a Master pass at Port Arthur, TX., bringing Mason to a total of 3 Master passes. He currently needs only needs 2 more passes for a Master Hunter Title.

Mason also went to South Dakota with me in November '07 to hunt pheasants. He is an awesome pheasant hunter and has been nick-named the "Tasmanian Devil" by one of my good friends due to his ability to find and flush pheasants at an unrelentless and rapid pace while skillfully quartering within gun range. Mason covers more ground and flushes more pheasants than any other Lab I've seen. And through the years he's learned the important task of sitting (or staying put) after the flush until he is released, something you don't see much on the outdoor networks on TV.

Mason travelled with me and Kitty and Tater to South Dakota the week before Thanksgiving of '08 to hunt wild pheasants. Stay tuned for lots of good photos.

ater is doing well and having fun.He also made the long trip to South Dakota in early November of '07 and did a really great job hunting wild pheasants. On our 2nd day of hunting Tony and I were walking a fence line and Tater suddenly began shuffling in the dense cover and came out with a live pheasant in his mouth! We think it may have been a bird that was wounded from a previous encounter with us, but maybe not. Just another good reason to hunt pheasants with a well trained retriever!

After we returned home just for the heck of it I ran Tater in two HRC Upland Hunt tests and he passed both. On Thanksgiving morning Tater joined me on a duck hunt near Eagle Lake, TX., where he was the sole working dog and retrieved every bird that was shot. The following week Tater was on the road again to Kansas with his trainer Pat McHale to hunt pheasants for the 2nd time this fall.

The fall '07 and spring ''08 hunt test seasons were tough but good for me and Tater. We ran several Master level tests and struggled, but we finally closed the '07 season with his 2nd Master pass. We started back up in the spring of '08 running a couple Master level tests and one Finished level. We came so close to another Master pass but our wheels fell off on the last bird of the 3rd series. A few weeks later we ran a very tough HRC Finished level test and Tater SMACKED it with no handles on the marks and some pretty clean blind retrieves, earning his HRCH title!! I am soo proud of that boy right now! We plan on running Tater in Master tests the fall of '08 to get the three passes needed for his Master Title.

Tater travelled with me and Kitty and Mason to South Dakota the week before Thanksgiving '08 to hunt wild pheasants. Check back for lots of good photos.

e currently have no puppies for sale; however, we plan to be able to breed Kitty in the winter of '09/'10. She kind of had an unusual heat cycle this past year and we are not sure what her biological clock is doing right now. Based on a heat she had this past June she could come in season again late December or early January. By then all her Master National business will be behind us and we can focus on breeding again. Please check back here or send an email in December info@lonestarlabradors.com

Please follow

More photos and information about Miss Kitty can be found here. Please keep in mind we are currently breeding only once a year and our waiting list usually fills up fast.

ne thing we know you would agree with is an unhealthy pup is not good. When you bring your new pup home, you don't want to spend a lot of time and money at the Doc's office trying to figure out what's wrong with your pup. We also care about the health of your pup as it matures. That's why we do our homework prior to breeding, making sure both Dam and Sire are capable of producing good, healthy litters. Though we cannot guarantee any given pup will not have any health problems, we can assure you we will guarantee certain health aspects of all our pups. Click here to see our Health Guarantee. You will find a printable version of it as well.

ecause we usually breed only once a year, we feel obligated to helping those looking for quality Labs for hunting and hunt tests while we are in our off-season. Therefore, we like to refer business to other breeders/kennels that we feel you would be happy with. If it happens that you decide one of their pups is better suited for your needs than one of ours, that is fine with us too. We sometimes owe them favors anyway. Most offer professional obedience and gun dog training as well.

Below you will find links to some breeders, kennels, and trainers we are happy to recommend to you. Please let them know we sent you.

About Parvo

Parvo is a nasty virus you don't want to see any pet experience. It takes hold quickly and leaves no mercy. It affects the digestive tract, causing great discomfort to your pet and without prompt treatment, could quickly lead to death. Symptoms begin with an obvious display of discomfort, soon followed by vomiting and diarrhea. Eventually, the infected pet starts passing blood, becomes dehydrated and could die a miserable death. The sad part about Parvo is that it is easily avoidable. Vets routinely vaccinate pets for Parvo. It is usually transmitted through exposure to infected feces. Without your awareness, your pet could become exposed at your local park, or anywhere other pets expel themselves. Please be sure to stay current on all your pet’s shots.

Cindi and I learned a very hard lesson about Parvo from a stray pup we took in that wandered our way. No collar, and no ID; we tried to find his owners, but to no avail. He was a very well behaved pup, but several days after he showed up, he left us due to Parvo. We attempted to heal him with two treatments by our Vet, but the illness overwhelmed our six-month old friend. We provided him with lots of love and care his last few days. We sure miss him.
